Spring Break - Vancouver Island
Students took a Spring Break Trip to explore the nearby Vancouver Island!
March 14th - Ice Hockey
“The good old hockey game, is the best game you can name. And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game!” (Stompin’ Tom) Students took back to the ice after their initial skating in February to play the national sport!
March 7th - Historic Townsite Walking Tour
Students took a walk to explore the Historic Townsite District. They learned about the mill, company towns, historic buildings, architecture, and local history and lore.
March 5th - Biography Writing
Each new International Student gets to help create a simple biography with their peers!
February 29th - Leap Day Dance!
Students celebrated Leap Day with a Frog-Themed, semi-formal school dance. The place was bumpin’!
February 29th - Skating Trip
Students took to the ice at the Recreation Complex and showed off their skating and hockey skills!
February 28th - Chinese Culture Presentation
Visiting educational guests from China gave a cultural presentation to students that included questions and crafts!
February 22nd - Bus Tour of Town
Students to an overcast bus excursion around the town, to explore Willingdon Beach, Marine Avenue, Rocky Mountain Bakery, the Marina, Cranberry, Mowat Bay, Wildwood, and Townsite.
February 15th - Lund Trip
Students went to the “End of the Road” to explore the remote community of Lund.
February 9th - School-Wide Assembly
Students gathered to celebrate Semester One and kickoff Semester Two!
Feb. 8th - Mount Valentine Hike
New International Students hiked out to, and up, the local lookout point: Mount Valentine.
February 1st - Nature Loop Stroll
New Canadian Studies went for an orientation walk through the nearby woods, to take in the local flora and fauna.
January 26th-31st - Arrivals and Departures
Students left Powell River, and more International Students arrived for the second semester. It was bittersweet. All the best to those leaving.
January 24 - Semester 1 Farewell
International students held a private farewell ceremony and debut the class movie, and some great video memory collections!
January 18th - Snowman
We took advantage of the beautiful snow to have a little good old Canadian fun!
January 15th - Curling
Students visited the Powell River Curling Club and tried out an authentic Canadian sport! This week they worked on the basics, and next week they will compete with each other.
January 8th - Bowling
Students went to “Strikers” and tried out some Canadian 5 Pin Bowling!
December 18th - Winter Wonderland Skating
International students visited the Recreation Complex and took in the Winter Wonderland skating days!
